Dr. David Lenhart’s approach to orthodontics is rooted in a profound understanding of functional occlusion and comprehensive dentistry, honed over 12 years of practicing restorative dentistry in Northwest Ohio. With a keen interest in interceptive orthodontic treatment, Dr. Lenhart is committed to creating beautiful smiles and ensuring optimal health and function for each patient.
Dr. Lenhart’s academic journey began at the University of Michigan, where he completed his undergraduate education and earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS), graduating with honors from the Academy of General Dentistry and the Academy of Oral Medicine. His commitment to excellence was further recognized with induction into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Honorary Dental Fraternity. Furthering his education, Dr. Lenhart received a Master of Science in Dentistry degree (MSD) and a specialty certificate in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics from Case Western Reserve University. During his time at Case Western, he was honored with the CWRU award for clinical excellence. He is certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.
Beyond the walls of Lenhart Orthodontics, Dr. David Lenhart loves spending time with his family and is always up for an adventure. He enjoys every aspect of the Midwest’s four seasons: skiing, snowmobiling, boating, biking, tennis, volleyball and cheering on his Michigan Wolverines in the Fall. He resides in Sylvania, Ohio with his family but spends a great deal of time in Northern Michigan.

Growing up in an orthodontic environment, Dr. Sydney Sherman developed a profound appreciation for the transformative power of orthodontics. Influenced by her father’s dedication, she emphasizes building long-lasting relationships with her patients rooted in trust, compassion, and transparency. Dr. Sherman is passionate about continuing the family legacy at Lenhart Orthodontics, ensuring each patient’s journey is fulfilling and ends with a wonderful result.
Dr. Sydney Sherman’s educational journey is marked by distinction and leadership. Graduating summa cum laude from Hillsdale College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, she continued at the University of Michigan, earning her Doctorate of Dental Surgery with notable accolades and leadership roles, including the Presidency of Xi Psi Phi Dental Fraternity. Completing her Master of Science in Orthodontics at the University of Iowa, Dr. Sherman specialized in innovative treatments like temporary anchorage devices (TADs) and earned her ABO certification, showcasing her commitment to leading-edge orthodontic care.
Outside of transforming smiles, Dr. Sydney Sherman embraces a vibrant life. From peaceful yoga to the thrill of downhill skiing, her love of staying active mirrors her energetic approach to orthodontics. With a keen eye for interior design, she adds creativity and style to every aspect of her life, including the welcoming atmosphere of Lenhart Orthodontics. A proud resident of Petersburg, Michigan, alongside her family, Dr. Sherman cherishes community, the great outdoors, and cheering on the Michigan and Iowa football teams.

An orthodontist is a specialized dentist trained extensively in aligning teeth and jaws. This specialization begins after undergraduate education, with high-achieving students entering CODA-accredited dental schools for a 4-year program, culminating in board exams. These dentists undertake an additional 2-3 years of focused training to specialize in orthodontics.
Post-residency, orthodontists can pursue board certification from the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO), the only orthodontic board recognized by the American Dental Association and established in 1929. The ABO aims to enhance orthodontic care quality and requires orthodontists to pass rigorous written and clinical exams, with a renewal process every ten years.
